The E3 Expo is a place where top-tier game studios show off their latest projects alongside indie developers in an effort to get the public excited about upcoming titles. While this convention is always popular, the 2017 Expo garnered mixed reviews. Though it released exciting heavy-hitters like Super Mario Odyssey, Wolfenstien: The New Colossus, and Monster Hunter World, some criticized its lack-luster presentations and the overwhelming amount of simple game trailers as opposed to real game content.
With the 2018 Expo looming on the horizon, speculation on what could be revealed is running rampant, and the anticipation is high. Below you’ll find some titles that fans are hoping to see make an appearance at the upcoming convention:
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Ubisoft has confirmed that the next title in the Assassin’s Creed series will make an appearance at the E3 Expo. The brief teaser that was released on the game’s official twitter page suggests that it will be set in ancient Greece, and the title further corroborates this. Not much else has been confirmed about the title, but many hope that the new game will expand on the gameplay style of Origins to further this massively popular series. Fallout 76 Bethesda recently released a teaser trailer for this new installment in the beloved Fallout franchise. Though the trailer gave nothing away about what type of game this might be, many have hypothesized 76 to be an online multiplayer experience. This would fit in with Bethesda’s translation of its Elder Scrolls series into a similar online version. Whatever it might end up being, the wildly popular series already has its dedicated fans signing up for pre-order.
Death Stranding Kojima Productions stands to make its debut with this collaboration between famous developer Hideo Kojima, Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus, and Hannibal actor Mads Mikkelsen. The title will be a PS4 exclusive, and the action/sci-fi game is confirmed to feature Norman Reedus as its lead. The title was teased at the 2017 Expo, and this year fans can hope to see a more in-depth look at its gameplay and narrative.
Fable 4 When Lionhead Studios closed and Fable Legends was canceled, many fans lost hope for another title in the incredibly beloved Fable franchise. However, it seems that the series has been passed over to Playground Games, the studio behind Forza Horizon. The studio has recently begun hiring a new team of developers to begin work on Fable 4, and although a release date shouldn’t be expected any time soon, many are hoping for a teaser at the upcoming E3 Expo.
With everything that has been confirmed so far, as well as the many rumors flying around about what could possibly be revealed, the 2018 E3 Expo could showcase some truly spectacular titles.
